AS Monaco turned the gas on down the stretch to overcome bottom-placed Boulogne Levallois 85 – 77 on the road and improve its French League record to 16-1. The defending champs won mainly thanks to a decisive 8 – 0 run over the last five minutes.
Elie Okobo scored 20 points and dished out eight assists while Matthew Strazel had 20 points for a Monaco team that was given a run for its money by Boulogne for 35 minutes before a late push that granted them victory. The hosts led for almost the entire first half and were up 52 – 43 halfway through the third period.
Monaco approached 56 – 57 by the end of the quarter and the two teams kept trailing blows. With the Boulogne up 75 – 73 and 4:49 to play, Sasa Obradovic‘s players scored eight unanswered points to go up 75 – 81 while 2:11 were left on the clock.
Boulogne had several opportunities to cut that deficit but was unable to do so and suffered a loss that dropped them to 2 – 16. Jordan Theodore led the hosts with 22 points.
