Mike James scored a French League career-high 31 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead AS Monaco past Nanterre 86 – 80 on the road. The Monegasque side improved to 22-2 in the championship to further solidify its hold on the top of the standings.
James also made a key jumper to put Monaco up 83 – 80 with three seconds to play after Nanterre approached 81 – 80 thanks to a 0-7 run down the stretch. He then stole the ball to secure his team’s win.
Alpha Diallo dropped 15 points and Donatas Motiejunas had 12 points plus five rebounds for Monaco. Their team entered the last period with a 72 – 56 advantage but then Nanterre made multiple runs to pull off a strong comeback that was ultimately denied by James.
Justin Bibbins led Nanterre with 20 points and seven assists. Benjamin Sene contributed 17 points plus five rebounds while Desi Rodriguez posted 15 points plus eight boards.
