Last season, the Metropolitans competed in the French Betclic Elite finals, and because of Victor Wembanyama, the whole basketball world watched.
However, they were relegated from the top tier in France this season, and according to Le Parisien, they will ‘disappear.’
Reportedly, the leaders of Metropolitans 92 have decided not to re-enter the club for the next season.
The management, which had until Wednesday to submit a re-entry application to DNCCG, informed the financial body of the National Basketball League (LNB) of their decision. They also notified the club’s employees in the morning.
“This has led to the pure and simple disappearance of an emblematic club of French basketball. The club was heir to PSG Racing, French champion in 1997, and Levallois, winner of the Coupe de France in 2013,” per Le Parisien’s report.
The Mets played their last official match last Saturday against Nanterre, finishing the season last in the standings with an abysmal score of 4-30.
