TJ Shorts scored 34 points, including multiple key baskets in overtime, and dished out 13 assists as Paris Basketball grabbed a 103 – 98 away win over ASVEL Villeurbanne to tie the French League semifinals 2-2 and force a Game 5 at home.
After ASVEL scored four points in the last eight seconds of regulation to send the game to an extra period, Paris went on to make a 6-0 run to go up 101 – 93 with 51 seconds left after a layup by Shorts. This time, the reigning EuroCup champions weren’t about to give up their advantage.
Mbaye Ndiaye had a career night with 25 points and 14 rebounds for ASVEL. Edwin Jackson scored 24.
Tyson Ward contributed 17 points to Paris’ victory.
Meanwhile, defending champions AS Monaco beat JL Bourg en Bresse 76 – 71 in Game 3 to win the semifinal series 3-1. Jaron Blossongame had 16 points plus five rebounds for the Monegasque team while Elie Okobo dropped 16 points as well.
