The French basketball league, Betclic Elite, has found a new broadcaster.
Faced with the financial problems encountered by the Skweek platform, the French championship was looking for a new broadcaster for the coming seasons. DAZN announced that it had obtained the broadcasting rights for the entire Betclic Elite until 2029.
In addition, the British platform will also broadcast the All-Star Game in December, the Leaders Cup in February, and a “new tournament dedicated to young talents in January.”
“This agreement with the DAZN platform confirms the current dynamic around the LNB and the growing attractiveness of our championship. We are delighted to find a form of stability, with programming adapted for our clubs and their supporters but also to allow all fans to benefit from the expertise of DAZN, a sports platform that has become a benchmark in the world of content,” Philippe Ausseur, President of the LNB, said.
Skweek to continue broadcasting EuroLeague and EuroCup
Skweek ended its deal with the French League but will continue broadcasting EuroLeague competitions, as announced in the official statement.
“After completing the season in direct agreement with the LNB, SKWEEK has chosen not to enter the tender it was invited to take part in for the Betclic Elite broadcasting rights.
While SKWEEK has chosen a different path forward, we remain deeply committed to the French basketball community. To this end, we are dedicated to working closely with the LNB and their new broadcast partner, ensuring a seamless transition for subscribers currently enjoying LNB games on our platform. SKWEEK will provide all necessary support to facilitate this transition, ensuring that fans have continuous, uninterrupted access to the sport they love.
Looking to the future, SKWEEK is excited to reaffirm its ongoing commitment to the French and European basketball landscape. We will continue to broadcast the prestigious Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and the BKT EuroCup for the next two seasons. Additionally, SKWEEK will further enhance the basketball viewing experience through our SKWEEK SKWAD content creator program, which delves into the rich culture and dynamics of basketball across France and Europe. Our platform will also maintain its high standard of punditry and expert commentary, bringing insightful analysis and engaging content to our viewers.
Furthermore, SKWEEK is investing in the future of sports and entertainment by enhancing the offer of state-of-the-art basketball and multi-purpose real estate projects across Europe. These initiatives are designed to elevate the standards of the sports industry and provide fans with the best live experiences possible.
As we embark on these exciting new ventures, we extend our best wishes to the LNB and their new broadcasting partners. SKWEEK is enthusiastic about the future and remains dedicated to enhancing the sports viewing experience for fans across France and Europe. We look forward to continuing to serve as an integral part of the basketball community, supporting the game’s growth and ensuring that fans enjoy the high-quality broadcast content they deserve,” as per Skweek.
