Defending champions Monaco fell to Saint Quentin at the start of the 2024/25 French Betclic Elite season, and now another surprise has emerged in the opening round.
EuroCup winners and EuroLeague debutants Paris lost on the road to Gravelines-Dunkerque, 89-85.
Glynn Watson, with 19 points and eight rebounds, and Tajaun Agee, with 17 points and nine rebounds, led the way for the winning side, with six players finishing in double figures.
Conversely, only T.J. Shorts was up to the task with 21 points and seven rebounds, with Tyson Ward the only other player in double digits, contributing 10 points.
While Paris struggled, ASVEL had no problems against Le Mans, securing a convincing 85-71 win.
Joffrey Lauvergne led the charge with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Shaquille Harrison added 12, Theo Maledon 11, and Paris Lee 10 points.
On the other side, Tray Buchanan had 18, while Trevor Hudgins and William Narace added 14 points each. However, The game was interrupted for some minutes after an incident with spectators carrying Palestinian flags and arena security.
