AS Monaco Basket has announced that it is unable to meet its payment obligations and will suspend operations, hoping to find a path toward restructuring and an eventual return.

“Despite all the efforts made, AS Monaco Basket has been placed in a state of cessation of payments,” the club said in a statement addressed to its supporters.

Monaco did not provide a timetable for a possible comeback, but expressed hope that the Roca Team would one day return to its home at Salle Gaston Médecin.

The announcement brings a halt to a project that delivered major domestic and European success over the past 12 years. Monaco’s honors include three French championships, four Leaders Cups, two French Cups and one Supercup.

The club also won the EuroCup in 2021, securing the Principality’s first European title in a team sport, before making two EuroLeague Final Four appearances, including one trip to the championship game.

In its farewell message, Monaco emphasized that its greatest achievement was the community built around the team, thanking supporters for their loyalty and insisting that the club’s legacy would endure.

The statement said the future of men’s basketball in Monaco now rests with the ASM association, its leadership, coaches, youth players and first team, which competes in Nationale 3.

Monaco described that transition as passing the torch, with the hope that the red and white colors will eventually return to the highest level.
