Le Mans has advanced to the second round of the French League playoffs with a 79 – 68 win over Lyon Villeurbanne. The hosts won the series 2-1, and thanks to their home court have qualified for the semifinals.
The second half was the key to this game. Le Mans, went on an 8-0 run in the final minute of the third period to increase their lead to double-digits (58-46), which was an important moment in the contest. This lead kept on growing (63-48) and so ASVEL could not respond, despite Justin Harper’s 13 points.
The first half was close, as both teams were facing elimination and wanted to come out, playing tough defense (32-31). In the second half, however, the home side controlled the game.
Justin Cobbs put up 19 points for the winners to finish a very solid series, while Eito added 16 points. For the losing side, DeMarcus Nelson finished with 13 points.
Le Mans will face Strasbourg in the upcoming semifinals.
