Dijon accomplished the comeback of the year not only in the French League but probably in Europe overall, en route to getting a ticket to the semifinals.
Strasbourg was up 51 – 20 a bit before halftime in Game 2 of the quarterfinals but Dijon made a huge turnaround to erase the deficit and ultimately win 89 – 85 in overtime to sweep the series.
Dijon guard Axel Julien was the man of the match for more reasons than one. The French player scored 28 points and dished out 12 assists while draining the go-ahead free throws for the 72 – 73 with 1:15 remaining in regulation.
He then proceeded to hit back-to-back triples in overtime to put his team up 80 – 84 with less than a minute to go.
Ryan Pearson added 24 points and six rebounds for Dijon. Mike Green (17 points, seven assists) and Jarrel Eddie (17 points) were Strasbourg’s top contributors.
In the other Pro A playoffs game held today, Amine Noua had 15 points and five rebounds as ASVEL beat Le Mans 70 – 63 on the road to sweep the series 2-0.
Kendrick Ray scored 167 for Le Mans.
