Anadolu Efes got the 101-83 win over Turk Telekom and remains on top of the Turkish BSL standings.
Shane Larkin, Adrien Moerman, Alec Peters, Bryant Dunston and Krunoslav Simon all sat out Anadolu Efes’ Sunday (15/3) game vs. Turk Telekom. However, according to the BSL rules, only five non-local players can be used and Chris Singleton, Tibor Pleiss, Vasilije Micic, James Anderson and Rodrigue Beaubois played.
Following the game, Ergin Ataman commented that Larkin sat out due to injury, while the team didn’t bring Dunston to Ankara since he just became a father on Saturday.
Micic with 19 points was the top scorer of the winners.
Marquee players from Galatasaray and also from Tofas in the game against Fenerbahce were missing from their team’s respective games on Day 23 of the Turkish league, which continues its action behind closed doors this weekend. Galatasaray players issued a joint statement earlier this week, requesting suspension of the Turkish League, while players from all the Turkish clubs expressed their concerns in social media.
While there’s no official information on the matter, in most cases, the reason for the absence was fear because of the COVID-19 virus outbreak, according to Eurohoops sources.
Anadolu Efes leads the league with a 20-2 record, followed by Karsiyaka (20-3), Fenerbahce (18-5) and Galatasaray (16-7).
