Fenerbahce Beko prevailed, 71-63, in a tough battle against Aliaga Petkim Spor on Sunday.
Former Baskonia teammates, moved to the Turkish powerhouse this summer, Achille Polonara and Pierria Henry shared a team-high 12 points, while pulling down nine rebounds and dishing out 13 assists, respectively. Marial Shayok and Devin Booker added ten points apiece.
The visitors went up by six points early in the second half and recovered to draw up a 59-58 lead in the fourth quarter. The 13-4 finishing run secured the victory for the team coached by Sasha Djordjevic. Fener improved to 2-0 in Turkey’s BSL sharing first place with Anadolu Efes, Pinar Karsiyaka, and Tofas Bursa.
Following the opening week win versus Crvena Zvezda mts at home, Fenerbahce will visit Panathinaikos OPAP in Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 2 action. The next game is scheduled to take place in Athens on Thursday.
Demetrius Conger, Gary Browne, and Justin Wright-Foreman all posted 14 points for Petkim in the Regular Season Round 2 contest.
The 29-point showing by QJ Peterson highlighted the remaining Sunday fixtures of the Turkish League. The former VMI standout led Gaziantep to the away win, 93-89, opposite Semt77 Yalovaspor.
