Galatasaray defeated archrival Fenerbahce Beko 76 – 70 on the road in the latest edition of the Turkish BSL League derby between the two Istanbul sides. This was the fourth straight win for Galatasaray since Andreas Pistiolis took over and a result that lifts them to the fifth spot (17-10) in the standings.
Dee Bost posted team-highs 15 points plus eight rebounds for Galatasaray while draining two crucial back-to-back 3-pointers that put his squad up 68 – 72 with two minutes to play. The visiting side had an overall powerful 0 – 13 run down the stretch to transform a 68 – 63 deficit to a 68 – 76 advantage with 44 seconds to play and basically seal the win.
Melo Trimble added 13 points and five assists while former NBA and EuroLeague guard Isaiah Canaan took his first taste of this derby by contributing 13 points in the victory of Galatasaray.
Only Ismet Akpinar (15 points) scored in double figures for Fenerbahce that saw Galatasasaray dropping 14-28 3-pointers on them. After trailing for 30 minutes, the hosts went ahead 68 – 63 with five minutes to play but were then overwhelmed by their opponents who delivered a strong response to close the game successfully.
Despite the loss, Fener remains first with 21 – 6, having one game more than second-placed Anadolu Efes (20-6).
