Anadolu Efes got a convincing win in the first game of the Turkish league quarterfinals but Game 2 was a different story and Pinar Karsiyaka got a 79-73 win to the series at 1-1. The next clash will decide who advances.
Michael Roll and Tony Taylor led the scorers of the winning side with 20 points each while Bonzie Colson had 12 points, as did Alex Tyus. Tyus also grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double.
On the opposing side, Chris Singelton scored 15 followed by Bryant Dunston with 13 and Shane Larkin with 13 points (plus seven assists). The 2022 Alphonso Ford trophy winner Vasilije Micic wasn’t on the roster.
Karsiyaka had an upper hand throughout most of the clash and led by as much as 12 points (56-44) in the third quarter but Efes managed to bounce back and take over the lead in the fourth quarter (71-69).
However, Taylor, Roll and Colson made a 6-0 run (75-71) for the hosts at the three-minute mark which was crucial in their run to victory that was sealed by Tyus and Yunus Sonsirma.
