Going through the entire second half minus head coach Ergin Ataman, Anadolu Efes dropped Darussafaka, 88-78, Sunday.
Ataman, 56, was ejected late in the first half of the BSL Regular Season Round 3 contest. Furious after a call with 1:15 on the clock of the second quarter, he complained to a referee and the angry reaction led to him being tossed. The Turkish play-caller also talked briefly with the remaining officials on the way to the locker room.
Banking in 22 points with six assists and three rebounds, Vasilije Micic led the way in improving to 3-0 in Turkey’s league. Rodrigue Beaubois put in 20 more points behind 7/11 field goals. Elijah Bryant, Amath M’Baye, Achille Polonara, and Ante Zizic sat out with Shane Larkin on the injury list.
In a tight game over 30 minutes, the home side jumped to a 12-point lead and in safe distance midway in the fourth quarter.
Also upping its domestic tally to 3-0, Fenerbahce Beko got the win, 85-71, versus Ayos Konyaspor. Carsen Edwards banked in 20 points and Johnathan Motley added 14 points. Unavailable players stretched from Nemanja Bjelica to Tonye Jekiri, Devin Booker, and Nick Calathes.
