Due to a catastrophic earthquake that struck Turkey, a seven-day national mourning was declared, and as a result, it has been announced that the matches planned to be played this week in the Turkish Basketball Super League have been postponed to a later date.
“As a result of the earthquake that affected many cities, especially Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Kilis, Gaziantep, Adana, Osmaniye, Diyarbakır, Malatya, Adıyaman and Şanlıurfa, on 6 February 2023, national mourning was declared for seven days with the decision of the Presidency.
After this earthquake disaster, which deeply saddened our country, all competitions to be played in our leagues this week have been postponed to a later date.
Turkish Basketball Federation will announce the new dates regarding the league calendar for the 2022-2023 season in the coming days.
May God have mercy on our citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake that stifled our country; We express our condolences to the families, relatives, and nation of our citizens and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,”
Turkish Basketball Federation states in the official statement.
Previously it was declared that games involving Turkish teams were postponed and to be rescheduled in Basketball Champions League, Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, and 7Days EuroCup.
