Withoug Marko Guduric, Yam Madar, Scottie Wilbekin, Nigel Hayes-Davis and Johnathan Motley, Fenerbahce Beko had no trouble in Round 5 of Turkish BSL, defeating Samspunspor in Ukler Sports Arena 83-53.
Sertac Sanli led the winning side with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while captain Melih Mahmutoglu scored 18 points. Nate Sestina also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards.
Bryant Crawford was the only player to reach double figuers in Samsunspor, finishing the match two assists shy of a double-double, with 12 points.
Fenerbahce improved to 4-1 in the domestic competition, recording its sixth straight win in both competitions. Next up for Dimitris Itoudis’ squad is a game against Olympiacos in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Round 6 (02/11).
Galatasaray stuns Anadolu Efes in Istanbul derby
Anadolu Efes hosted Galatasaray Eksmaş in Sinan Erdem Dome for Round 5 of the Turkish BSL, and suffered a heavy defeat in the Istanbul derby, with the guests securing a comfortable 76-95 victory.
Former Efes player Bugrahan Tuncer led the winning side with 16 points, while Huseyin Koksal followed with 15. Akwasi Yeboah also had a solid game with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Jarell Martin added 12 and Ismet Akpinar 10 points for Galatasaray.
Tyrique Jones led the defending champions with 18 points, Erkan Yilmaz added 16, Darius Thompson 12, and Elijah Bryant 10 points.
Galatasaray initiated a crucial 13-2 run at the start of the fourth period, and with Anadolu Efes trailing 61-81, the game was effectively out of reach.
Erdem Can’s team suffered its first BSL defeat of the season, while Galatasaray improved to 3-2. The two-time EuroLeague champions will now travel to Bologna to face the red-hot Virtus in the EuroLeague Round 6 match on (03/11).
