The best showing of the 2023-24 season by Ante Zizic leads Anadolu Efes back to the win column.
The 26-year-old Croatian center posted a 22-point, 17-rebound double-double in Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi Regular Season Round 6. His dominating display lifted the defending champions in Turkiye to the win, 93-73, over Reeder Samsunspor in Mustafa Dagistanli Sports Hall. Derek Willis added 16 points with 6/7 field goals on Sunday.
Coming off three straight losses, including last week’s loss to Istanbul rival Galatasaray Ekmas, Efes jumped to 5-1 in the BSL. Shane Larkin, Rodrigue Beaubois, Will Clyburn, Dogus Ozdemiroglu, Tibor Pleiss, and Tyrique Jones were not available for the team coached by Erdem Can.
The hosts were forced down to 1-5, failing to hold on after the break. Nimrod Levi put up a team-high 21 points in the losing effort.
Fenerbahce rejoins Efes on top of the standings
Despite dropping a seemingly comfortable lead, Fenerbahce Beko restored a safe lead in the fourth quarter and beat Tofas, 95-86, to jump to 5-1 and retain a share of the top spot of the table.
Nigel Hayes-Davis poured in 25 points and Johnathan Motley added 22 points for the win in Tofas Arena. Austin Wiley packed a team-high 18 points for the hosts.
Sertac Sanli suffered an early exit due to a foot injury. Moreover, Scottie Wilbekin, Giorgos Papagiannis, Dyshawn Pierre, Marko Guduric, Tyler Dorsey, and Raul Neto did not suit up due to various reasons.
