Anadolu Efes saw Petkim coming back from down 18 points to force overtime before ultimately getting a 101 – 92 win to improve its Turkish BSL League record to 9-1 and climb atop of the standings.
Rodrigue Beaubois (27 points, six assists) and Darius Thompson (20 points) led a quite shorthanded Efes. Their team was missing Shane Larkin and Will Clyburn, apart from big men Ante Zizic, Tibor Pleiss and Derek Willis.
In his Turkish League debut Mike Daum had 11 points plus five rebounds for Efes.
David Efianayi dropped 18 points for Petkim while Peyton Aldridge had 14 points plus 10 rebounds. Kristers Zoriks produced 14 points plus five assists and Mahir Agva posted 14 points plus eight rebounds.
Petkim trailed 35 – 51 at halftime and 55 – 68 at the end of the third quarter but made quite the comeback to tie the score at 84 and send the game to an extra period. Efes was overwhelming in overtime and the hosts unable to answer back.
On Saturday (2/12), Besiktas beat Fenerbahce on the road in an eventful game.
