Thompson leads Efes to a narrow win, Fenerbahce rocks Karsiyaka

Extending a winning streak, Anadolu Efes struggled against Cagdas Bodrum Spor in Round 17 of the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi Regular Season.

Storming back from a double-digit deficit in the second half, the team coached by Erdem Can prevailed, 87-79, in Sinan Erdem Dome and went up to 15-2 at the domestic level on Sunday.

Daniel Oturu chipped in 15 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks for the defending champions in Turkiye. Shane Larkin, Elijah Bryant. Dogus Ozdemiroglu, Tibor Pleiss, Justus Hollatz, Mike Daum, Erkan Yilmaz, and Tyrique Jones sat out due to various reasons.

Fenerbahce makes short work of Karsiyaka

In command after the first quarter, Fenerbahce Beko ended up with a 93-63 win against Pinar Karsiyaka in Ulker Sports Arena. Rebounding from the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague loss to Zalgiris, staying one game behind rival Efes at the domestic level was the reward.

Sertac Sanli made a team-high 17 points with 6/9 field goals, including 3/3 triples. Giorgos Papagiannis followed with 14 points. More double-digit scoring contributions by Johnathan Motley and Melih Mahmutoglu dropping 12 and 11 points, respectively.

For the visitors, Vernon Carey Jr. registered a game-high 18 points. In a quick turnaround, the team coached by Ufuk Sarica is set to start the Round of 16 of the Basketball Champions League by hosting Lenovo Tenerife in Karsiyaka Arena on Tuesday.
