Nemanja Bjelica joined Turkish BSL team Bahcesehir as Head of Basketball Operations, the club announced. Bjelica, a former EuroLeague MVP and NBA champion, had announced his retirement from basketball back in March.
Bjelica played some of the best basketball in his career in Turkey when he was a member of Fenerbahce Beko from 2013 to 2015. He won EuroLeague MVP in 2015 and pushed the team towards establishing itself as a powerhouse in the competition before continuing his career in the NBA.
In 2022 and after becoming an NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors, Bjelica returned to Fenerbahce but played seven games in EuroLeague due to injury issues.
This season, Bahcesehir participates in the FIBA Europe Cup (Europe’s fourth-tier continental competition) and is currently competing against Niners Chemnitz in the Finals. The team was the FIBA Europe Cup champion in 2022 while playing in the Basketball Champions League in 2022-23.
