Petkimspor in stunning fashion snaps Fenerbahce’s undefeated streak in the BSL

From starting Round 5 of the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi Regular Season with an 18-2 sprint, Aliaga Petkimspor went on to defeat Fenerbahce Beko, 75-66, in Ulker Sports Arena on Sunday.

Holding on early in the fourth quarter and restoring a safe lead confirmed the upset. DeWayne Russell packing 20 points, seven assists, and five rebounds, paved the way for his side to improve to 3-2. Breein Tyree threw in 15 points.

For the team coached by Sarunas Jasikevicius, Tarik Biberovic scored 16 points and Boban Marjanovic followed with 15 points. Wade Baldwin IV, Bonzie Colson, Nicolo Melli, Yigit Hamza Mestoglu, Dyshawn Pierre, Sertac Sanli, and Scottie Wilbekin were out of the lineup.

Jumping to 5-0 in the BSL, fellow Turkish Airlines EuroLeague participant, Anadolu Efes beat Manisa, 85-73, in Basketbol Gelisim Merkezi. Elijah Bryant went for 17 points plus six assists and three rebounds. Daniel Oturu and Derek Willis added 14 and 12 points, respectively. Sidelined players were Stanley Johnson, Shane Larkin, Ridvan Oncel, Vincent Poirier, and Darius Thompson.

Also on Sunday, Tofas went up to 5-0, thanks to a home win, 94-71, over Bursaspor.
