After defeating Bahcesehir 87-56 in the quarterfinals and Galatasaray 89-74 in the semifinals, Fenerbahce met another Istanbul outfit in the Turkish Cup final—Besiktas.
Sarunas Jasikevicius’ side recorded another impressive victory and defended the crown in the national cup competition with a final score of 104-81.
It was a triumph which left coach Saras satisfied.
As he said: “My players understood how they had to play. They understood how they had to play with intensity against a very good team like Beşiktaş . We had a very good game. Especially in the offense, we moved the ball very well and found the right players. We also hit our shots.”
Dominating performance
Fenerbahce went on a 10-3 run in the final minutes of the first quarter, turned the score around, and never looked back. From that point on, Jasikevicius’ players continuously increased their lead and ended up convincingly defeating their city rivals to claim Turkish Cup glory.
