With Vladimir Micov dropping 21 points plus a 3-point dagger with 51 seconds left, Galatasaray beat Usak Sportif 95 – 88 on the road and climbed at the sixth spot of the Turkish league standings with a 14 – 10 record.
Behind the 25 points plus 8 rebounds of Shaq McKissic and the 19 points/10 rebounds double-double by Zach Auguste, Usak (14th in the standings at 7 – 17) was quite competitive throughout the whole game and became quite dangerous enough to make it 78 – 80 with two minutes remaining.
Yet their guests answered a 0 – 6 run, establishing a distance that paced them safely towards victory. When Micov made it 82 – 89 with a bit less than a minute to go, it was all over.
Tibor Pleiss scored 15 points grabbed 10 rebounds for the “Cimbom” while Austin Daye added 17 points along with 7 rebounds and Sinan Guler 14 plus 6 assists.
This Gameday in the Turkish League had one of biggest upsets of the season with a playoffs hopeful Gaziantep (12 – 12) taking a superb road victory over Anadolu Efes (21 – 3) thus overthrowing them from the first place of the standings. Efes is now second and Fenerbahce (22 – 2) the sole holder of the top in the table.
