In the 2006/2007 season Fenerbahce had defeated Anadolu Efes 82 – 52 at home for the Turkish league. This result had set the biggest margin for a Fener victory in the history of the team’s classic match-up.
Until now….
This time the defending champs set a new record by defeating Efes 96 – 57 on the road, also “locking” first place in the regular season and home court advantage throughout the entirety of the playoffs.
Ekpe Udoh scored 22 points grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 5 assists, Bogdan Bogdanovic finished with 15 points and 8 assists while Melih Mahmutoglu scored 14 for the winning squad.
Thomas Heurtel (14 points, 6 assists) and Derrick Brown (12 points, 4 rebounds) stood out from Velimir Perasovic’s side. Efes is now third in the standings with a 23 – 5 record and one game less than second Besiktas (23 – 6).
You might say that this match was… over before it even got started and you wouldn’t be very much far from the truth. Fener stormed on the floor, taking a 6 – 29 (!) advantage at the end of the first quarter and never allowed its opponents to become competitive even to the slightest degree.
