In its first official game for 2017-2018, Fenerbahce took it from where it left it in the previous season: Gathering titles.
Despite some notable absences (Nikola Kalinic, Bobby Dixon and others), the reigning EuroLeague and Turkish League champions defeated Cup holders Banvit 75 – 64 and won the 2018 SuperCup trophy, the seventh in the history of the franchise.
Jan Vesely scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds while game MVP Gigi Datome contributed 14 points (4/7 3-pointers including the third quarter buzzer beater) plus 5 rebounds to pace coach Zeljko Obradovic’s team. Kostas Sloukas added 13 points, Brad Wanamaker 11 while Jason Thompson notched 7 points and 12 rebounds.
Angelo Calciaro (15 points) and Gasper Vidmar (10 points, 7 rebounds) stood out from Banvit.….
