Anadolu Efes defeated Trabzonspor 96 – 89 in overtime to conclude the Round 5 of the Turkish League. Velimir Perasovic‘s men improved to a 4-1 record after their victory on the road while the local team is now 1-4.
Errick McCollum was the man of the hour for Efes, returning to productive and key performances with seven out of his 27 points in the extra period.
Caleb Green’s 17 first-half points held the hosts close before the break (40-43) but Efes reacted in the third quarter. Both teams were tied at 84 with 5 seconds remaining. Krunoslav Simon had the chance to win the game in regulation but lost the ball.
The superior quality of Efes made the difference in overtime and the team escaped with the victory.
Krunoslav Simon added 19 and also 7 rebounds and 5 assists for Efes while Vladimir Stimac got a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards coming off the bench.
Big man Caleb Green finished with 25 and 9 rebounds but wasn’t enough for Trabzonspor.
Over the weekend, Fenerbahce smashed Pinar Karsiyaka at home in Bobby Dixon‘s return while Tofas remains undefeated in the competition after its victory over Istanbul Buyuksehir. Also, Besiktas prevailed over Darussafaka in overtime.
