Pinar Karsiyaka surprised Besiktas Sompo Japan 79 – 71 at home. The hosts jumped to a 4-8 record in BSL standings while the “Black Eagles” are right behind Fenerbahce and Tofas with 9-3.
After a close first half (33 – 33), Karsiyaka outscored the visitors in the third quarter 27 – 18. Besiktas tried a late comeback in the fourth but the hosts kept the lead until the end of the game.
D.J. Kenney (17 p. 11 r.), Jarrod Jones (18 p.), Dominic Waters (14 p.) and Karsiyaka’s new acquisition Bryon Allen (12 p.) paced the winners. Earl Clark finished with 17 points for Besiktas.
Earlier in the day, Erving Walker led Buyukcekmece past Yesilgiresun 101 – 58 with 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists. Also, Fenerbahce tied Tofas at top of the BSL league standings after defeating Usak at home 89 – 72.
On Monday, Anadolu Efes and Banvit will close Week 12.
