Banvit improved to a 6-6 record in the Turkish league after demolishing Anadolu Efes on the road 99-74. The team from Istanbul now stands on a 7-5 record as this was their second straight loss.
It was a one-team show from the start as Banvit faced no real resistance from the hosts.
The visitors already established their advantage in the first quarter thanks to Angelo Caloiaro. Banvit built a 29-20 lead as Caloiaro caught the fire early scoring 13 points (3/3 for three) in that period.
Damian Kulig felt the heat as well as he made five three-pointers in the first half pushing Banvit to the 51-42 lead after the first 20 minutes of the game.
The hosts had no plans to slow down in the second half. They opened the third quarter with an 8-2 run winning that period 21-14 never looking back as they were dominating down the last stretch as well.
Caloiaro led Banvit with 22 points and 7 rebounds and Kulig helped him with 23 points.
For the losing side, Vladimir Stimac had a strong double-double with 23 points and 10 boards, but that didn’t much to them as they lost easily.
On Sunday Pinar Karsiyaka surprised Besiktas Sompo Japan 79 – 71 at home as D.J. Kennedy had a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards.
Also, Fenerbahce tied Tofas at top of the BSL league standings after defeating Usak at home 89 – 72.
