One of the most iconic arenas of European basketball “Abdi İpekçi Arena” is no more. The gym which was designed in 1979 and opened in 1989 is being demolished.
It will be replaced by new facilities which will serve as the training center of the Turkish national team, however, a piece of basketball history has ended. The gym was among others the home of the 1992 FIBA European League Final Four, the 1995 FIBA European Cup Final, the EuroBasket 2001 Final phase and the 2010 FIBA World Championship.
