Galatasaray executive Omer Cansever talked about the club’s strategy for the next season and described a plan that will involve less foreign and more Turkish players in the rosters of both Men’s and Women’s basketball teams.
As Cansever said on Galatasaray TV, this will take place because foreign players “are acting arbitrarily” and “playing whenever they want.”
“We will have cheaper rosters but we will play “Galatasaray way”. We will cut some of our foreign players,” Cansever said. “Our (Women’s team) coach (Marina Maljkovic) said she isn’t using a foreign player. They (foreign players) are playing whenever they want. We will stop that. Maybe we will get worse results but we will have Turkish players. No way we are finding a sponsor for next year. We will cut down the number of foreign players, they are acting arbitrarily both in practices and games, which results in putting their coaches in tough situations.”
