Sarunas Vasiliauskas had a performance reminiscent of a pretty famous Sarunas (if you ask who, then you’re probably on the wrong website) of Lithuanian basketball to help his team capture a quite important victory tonight.
The 28-year-old Lithuanian guard notched a superb double-double of 26 points plus 10 assists thanks to which Trabzonspor defeated Banvit 88 – 84 to remain close to the playoff zone in the Turkish League.
Vasiliauskas also made four crucial free throws in the row in the final seconds to keep Banvit at a two-possession distance. He made the first pair with the score 86 – 84 and another after Damian Kulig scored for the 86 – 84.
Ridvan Oncel led Banvit in scoring with 17 points.
In the other two games held today for the Turkish League, Darussafaka beat Pinar Karsiyaka on the road behind 18 points by James Bell, while Besiktas passed from Usak vs. Sportif thanks to 17 points plus 8 assists by Cody Lalanne.
