Yesilgiresun Belediyespor got an important win at home over 91 – 87 Anadolu Efes to get away from the relegation spots. The visiting side slipped to a 14-7 record.
Sonny Weems led Efes in scoring once again with 19 points while Errick McCollum and Bryant Dunston added 18 apiece. Kenneth Franklin Boynton Jr had 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Davon Jefferson also contributed to the victory with 20, 10 and 5.
Efes dominated the first half (17 – 25) and it seemed that they were going to have a comfortable night on the road. Yesilgiresun reacted and leveled the game.
With 6 minutes left, Efes was trailing by just one point (79 – 78) but the hosts went into an 8 – 2 run that decided the game. Ergin Ataman’s team managed to reduce the deficit to just 3 points (90 – 87) but it wasn’t enough.
Early today, Fenerbahce protected their first spot in the Turkish League by defeating Darussafaka. Over the weekend, Jarrod Jones scored 20 points to lead Pinar Karsiyaka against Eskisehir.
