Josh Adams scored 22 and dished out six assists as Besiktas defeated Gaziantep 87 – 80 in Week 25 of the Turkish League to improve its record to 17 – 8.
DJ Strawberry added 16 points and Cody Lalanne 14 plus six boards for the winning squad that entered the game with a fiery 27 – 20 first quarter and never looked back after that.
Gaziantep tried to come back in the second half but they couldn’t overcome a 15-point deficit (53 – 38) they sustained early in the third period, despite the efforts of Rob Carter (21 points, eight rebounds) and Sean Armand (20 points, eight assists, four rebounds).
The result kept Gaziantep within the relegation and the second-to-last spot in the standings.
Earlier today (14/4), Eskisehir beat a heavily shorthanded Trabzonspor on the road. The hosts competed minus all their foreign players that went on strike to protest for unpaid salaries.
