In a game with multiple shifts of lead, Demir Insaat Buyukcekmece nullified Darussafaka Istanbul’s advantage in the third period and won 77-75 on Day 25 of Turkish League.
With thirty seconds left, Darussafaka had a one-point lead and decided to foul the opponent in order to have the final say in the game. Unfortunately for them, home players were very calm at the free throw line as they scored all six times while Scottie Wilbekin on the other side couldn’t change the outcome of the game.
Erving Walker led the victors with game-high 25 points while Diamon Simpson added 14 points. Wilbekin’s 22 points couldn’t change the outcome for Darussafaka.
The game started better for the hosts as they made a 12-0 run in five and a half minutes creating an advantage which they kept until the end of the first quarter. However, Darussafaka quickly answered with a push of their own, not only decreasing the margin but also taking over the lead in the last offense before the halftime break (35-33). Although it looked like the guests will keep their momentum and secure the win in the third period as they created a ten point advantage (49-39), Buyukcekmece managed to come back and won the game in the final minute.
On Sunday, Tofas easily defeated Pinar Karsiyaka and meanwhile, Anadolu Efes blowed out Sakarya on the road. The day before, Besiktas sank Gaziantep deeper in the relegation zone and on Friday Fenerbahce seemed ready for EuroLeague playoffs with a win against Yesilgiresun.
