Aaron Harrison scored 28 points with 7/9 3-pointers, and Galatasaray beat previously undefeated Fenerbahce Beko 84 – 74 in the Turkish League derby for Round 11 of the BSL regular season.
Galatasaray dominated the game in the beginning by winning the first quarter 25 – 16 thanks to Harrison scoring nine straight points and 12 overall in the period. Fener reacted and tied the game 36 – 36 but the hosts put on a strong defensive effort to take a double-digit lead 51 – 38 early in the second half.
Once again Fener made a comeback and cut its deficit to two, 68 – 66 in the mid of the fourth period, and once more Galatasaray had an answer. A 12 – 2 partial score gave the “Cimbom” a ten-point, 80 – 70, which proved to be more than enough with 1:40 remaining.
Apart from Harrison, Tal Webster had 13 points. Jan Vesely finished with 23 points plus nine rebounds for Fener.
Galatasaray improved to 7 – 4 with this win while Fenerbahce dropped to 10-1. Zeljko Obradovic’s team remains at the top of the BSL standings.
