Fenerbahce advanced to the Turkish Cup semifinals stage with a comfortable 78-70 victory over Bahcesehir. Nicolo Melli made five shots inside the rainbow and a trio of three-pointers for his 20 points.
Luigi Datome followed with 15 points. Joffrey Lauvergne scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Despite the narrow final margin, the game played at the Ankara Arena seemed all but over from the first half.
After the game, Zeljko Obradovic noted: “We played very well for 30 minutes and it was enough for the win. We need to understand how important the last ten minutes are”.
Turk Telekom, host of the Final Eight, booked its place in the semifinals earlier and will face Fenerbahce on Saturday. The quarterfinal stage will conclude tomorrow with the Anadolu Efes vs. Gaziantep and Tofas vs. Besiktas Sompo Japan matches, which will bring up the other semifinal.
