Ivan Buva terminated his contract with Besiktas Sompo Japan and left the Turkish team due to payment issues. Robin Benzing is expected to depart as well per Eurohoops. Phil Pressey and Jason Rich already left the club after being owed salary.
Players going separate ways also affects daily practices. According to Eurohoops sources, Besiktas hasn’t been able to perform proper team training for a long time with the remaining players forced to play 3X3 and work individually.
The team is currently seventh in the Turkish Super Ligi with a 14-12 W-L record. Restrictions on adding suitable replacements can further drop Besiktas in the standings down the bottom end of the 2018-19 season.
