Eurohoops presents the complete review of the playoffs in the best European leagues (Spanish, Turkish, German, VTB, Italian and French) this weekend highlighting the Top scorer, the top win, the worst loss, the biggest fall and a tip during the last three days.
Top Scorer
Hrvoje Peric (Venezia, Italy)
30 points (3/3 free throws, 9/11 2ps, 3/3 3ps) in Venezia’s victory vs Reggio Emilia (89-67)
The biggest win
The heart of a champion
Bayern have the momentum from their epic qualification over Alba in the fifth game on the road and so made the second consecutive double (84-73) with their win in the first final on Bamberg’s home court. The champions are jacked up.
The worst defeat
The “queen” falters
Real was defeated in the second game of the semifinal series with Valencia 93-89 because of their exceptionally unstable game. Now the series moves to Valencia and the home team will have two chances to win and qualify for the finals for the first time after 2003.
The biggest failure
Catastrophic finale
A lot has been written and even more has been said but this season was definitely a big failure for Fenerbahce. Being knocked out by Karsiyaka in 3-1 wins was condemning for Obradovic’s ambitious team. Sarica’s “Cinderella” Karsiyaka [link] will now face Efes.
The interesting element
Sweeping CSKA
CSKA Moscow wins the domestic championship for thirteen consecutive years, what used to be the Russian championship and is now the VTB League, with 3-0 wins over Khimki. The permanent champions reached 13 consecutive wins, more than any other team in a big European championship.
