The devastation that Turkey is experiencing due to the deadly earthquake moved the Eurohoops Organization, and on the initiative of the Turkish version of Eurohoops.net, it created EUROhope | Assist for Turkey. As part of EUROhope, the Corporate Social Responsibility program, famous athletes and top sports organizations have made available personal basketball items to be auctioned through Eurohoops, the proceeds of which will go towards the relief and support of those affected.
The first series of auctions included, among others, Dimitris Papanikolaou’s EuroLeague trophy from 2007 Panathinaikos‘ triumph and reached the final bid of €4,200, jerseys from Lorenzo Brown, Vladimir Micov, Semih Erden, and Giorgos Printezis, with the one given by the former Olympiakos captain contributing €700 to the effort, as well as basketballs signed by EuroLeague legends Theodoros Papaloukas and Dimitris Diamantidis, and from this year’s Fener and Efes rosters, with the ball of the back-to-back European Champions reaching the price of €730. The amount collected in the first week of implementation of the initiative amounts to a total of €6,736.
On the same time, the Eurohoops Organization added to its solidarity initiative the charity organization of Darussafaka. Therefore, the money from the auctions will go to Ahbap Non-Governmental Organization but also to Darüşşafaka Cemiyeti, the entity from which the sports club was created.
With the successful completion of the first series of auctions, the second week follows with ten new collectibles. Itmes in the second series include a signed basketball from the Panathinaikos team, a Devin Booker shirt signed by the entire Fener team, a jersey of the Bucks with a special message and the signature of Giannis Antetokounmpo and a signed jersey of the captain of Olympiakos Kostas Papanikolaou.
The EUROhope initiative is implemented through the Charity Idols platform in a series of auctions. Each auction will last seven days.
