The EUROhope | Assist for Turkey has evolved into the largest basketball auction in Europe, with the aim of raising money for the earthquake victims in Turkey. The response of the athletes and sports organizations was truly impressive, joining the Eurohoops initiative.
Theo Papaloukas, Dimitris Diamantidis, Giorgos Printezis, Dimitris Papanikolaou, David Jelinek, Lorenzo Brown, Devin Booker, Kostas Papanikolaou, Berk Ugurlu, Jerai Grant, Alex Perez, Mehmet Yagmur, Sergio Llull, Gabriel Deck, Wade Baldwin IV, Nico Mannion, Nick Calathes, Will Clyburn, Axel Bouteille, Semih Erden, Kostas Sloukas, Vladimir Micov, Erdem Can, Walter Tavares, Mario Hezonja, Luke Sikma, Kyle Hines, Mike James, Kostas Antetokounmpo, Pako Cruz, Tyler Ennis, Berke Buyuktuncel, Mindaugas Kuzminskas, John Holland, Errick McCollum, Metecan Birsen, Ercan Osmani, Arturas Milaknis, Ender Arslan, Cecilia Zandalasini, Luigi Datome, Marco Belinelli, Milos Teodosic, Gabriel Iffe Lundberg, Elie Okobo, Vasilije Micic, Shane Larkin, Jordon Crawford, Hassan Martin and Dylan Ennis, along with Anadolu Efes, Fenerbahce Beko, Panathinaikos, Galatasaray Nef, Darussafaka Lassa and Bahcesehir Koleji presented signed items hoping the money gathered from winning bids can ease the pain of the injured, homeless and orphans.
The series of auctions was inspired by the Turkish edition of Eurohoops.net, only a few days after the devastating earthquake. Eurohoops journalists spreading the word united top players and teams from all around the world to present autographed jerseys, balls, and trophies. EUROhope, the Corporate Social Responsibility program of the Eurohoops Organization, set up five weeklong auctions through the Charity Idols platform. Relating the message of solidarity throughout European basketball and beyond managed to collect a total of €13,093 for the relief of those affected by the earthquake disaster through the non-governmental organization Ahbap NGO and social foundation Darüşşafaka Cemiyeti.
