BERLIN – Eventful hours and a joyful atmosphere across Panathinaikos Aktor stretched to Jerian Grant. After helping the Greens capture the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title in Berlin’s Uber Arena on Sunday, he talked to his family.
A basketball family deriving from his father, a former NBA player, Harvey Grant. His uncle Horace Grant, also a former NBA player, is the identical twin of his father. Two of his three brothers, Jerai and Jerami, are also professional basketball players.
“They are all excited for me. I just got off the phone with them. Everybody is happy. They all watched,” he shared during an interview from the locker room that aired on the latest edition of Eurohoops Show LIVE, “Calling yourself a champion is special wherever you are.”
Grant, 31, averaged 12.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per Final Four contest in winning efforts versus Fenerbahce Beko and Real Madrid. Overall in the 2023-24 installment of EuroLeague, he tallied 8.6 points, 3.5 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game.
“We knew it was not going to be easy, but from day one, in our first practice, the coach told us, ‘our goal is to get to the Final Four’. Throughout the season, we were getting better and better. Once we got to the Final Four, we knew we had a chance,” he recapped.
Similar to the majority of the championship squad, Grant joined the Greek powerhouse during the offseason, revamping the roster under new head coach Ergin Ataman.
