Since being selected by the Memphis Grizzlies in the second round of the 2023 NBA draft, Tarik Biberovic extended his stay with Fenerbahce Beko, developing his talents and seeking a possible opportunity to play in the NBA.
Following Turkish Airlines EuroLeague action on Friday, he talked to Eurohoops about following former Fener star Bogdan Bogdanovic.
“I will never hide this. Bogdan is one of my favorite players,” he said, “When I was young, I always watched him – at Partizan, at Fenerbahce, and later when he went to the NBA. He’s one of the people I look up to, both as a player and as a person.”
“You know Bogdan a little, and I have a connection with him as well,” continued the 23-year-old winger, “He’s a very hardworking player; no one can say anything bad about him. Being compared to a player like him is, of course, a nice thing, but in Turkey, they say: ‘X is a brand…’. Everyone is a brand in their own way. I will continue on this path as well.”
After leaving the Istanbul outfit in 2017, Bogdanovic played three years with the Sacramento Kings and switched to the Atlanta Hawks in 2020. He recently started his eighth NBA campaign.
In 2018, at 17, Biberovic joined Fenerbahce, following the departure of the experienced Serbian winger. Now a veteran of 85 appearances in the EuroLeague, his rise amounted to a healthy 13.4 points per contest over five features in the 2024-25 edition of Europe’s premier club continental competition.
