Looking into the financial situation of Olympiacos and Panathinaikos Aktor, Eurohoops lays out the 2024-25 contracts for every player on the roster of the Reds and the Greens.
The Greek powerhouses carry the largest budgets among teams in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague when speaking only about players’ salaries.
After taxes, the net money amounts to the two most expensive teams in Europe’s premier club continental competition. Combined with coaches’ salaries – 1.3M for Ergin Ataman and 900.000 for Giorgos Bartzokas plus their assistants – the totals reach 20 million euros for each club.
Since you get what you pay for, quality options for head coaches Giorgos Bartzokas and Ergin Ataman inside a deep squad strengthen the respective bids to contend for the EuroLeague championship.
Serving as an – amateur – accountant, Eurohoops presents the player contracts between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos for the 2024-25 season.
The Vildoza case
In a peculiar case, both sides pay Luca Vildoza. Besides the new contract with Olympiacos, his deal to part ways with Panathinaikos included a compensation of 700.000 euros, while Olympiacos paid him one million. So the total compensation of the Argentinian guard for this season is 1,7M.
It has also to be added that both teams paid release fees or part of loaned players’ salaries, as it happened with Oleg Balcerowski who left Panathinaikos for Unicaja, and also with Filip Petrusev who was loaned to Crvena Zvezda by Olympiacos.
Highest salaries of the eternal rivals
Sasha Vezenkov is the clear top earner between the Greek clubs after reuniting with the Reds during the offseason. Fellow summer signing Evan Fournier and his French compatriot Moustapha Fall follow second through third.
As for Panathinaikos, the first place belongs to Kostas Sloukas, based on a huge contract signed last year. Kendrick Nunn is a close second. Juancho Hernangomez sits third.
