Approaching his debut in the 2024-25 campaign and his first appearance with Olympiacos, Keenan Evans is eager for action on the court.
“I’m an 11,” he ranked his hunger to play in a recent interview with Eurohoops, “I’m going to go 20.”
The discussion went from growing into basketball and his childhood idols in the NBA to early attachments to the Reds. From there to serious injuries during his stint with Zalgiris over the last two years.
“You always think about what’s next,” he described dealing with the projected timeline and doubts after such setbacks.
“I felt something wrong,” he recalled hurting his knee late in the 2023-24 season, “My coach at the time, [Andrea] Trinchieri, he comes over, he’s like, ‘It’s OK’, ‘It’s just a little pain, you’ll be fine’, ‘You’re not injured’. Through my mind, I am talking to him, ‘No, you don’t feel what I feel’, ‘No, my season is over’.”
Despite the injury and with several more months on the sidelines, the former Texas Tech standout signed with Olympiacos in July.
“Once I’m playing, I hope to bring positivity to the team and help in any way I can. Especially coming in halfway through the season, I am just looking at what we need and trying to be a contributor in that way,” he told Eurohoops.
