When Sergio Llull suffered an ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) rupture last July, there was growing concern in Real Madrid’s camp regarding the player who would lead the team.
That’s when Luka Doncic showed up. The boy wonder of Slovenian basketball had some magical performances in the… historic – for his team – EuroBasket and a few weeks later he continued at the same level in the EuroLeague as well.
The completion of the first 10 rounds finds him in the top spot of the index rating with 27.00 points on average, as a result of his amazing performance in points (19.7), rebounds (6.1) and assists (4.2).
However, a statistical category that is equally surprising, especially since we’re dealing with an 18-year-old, is that of fouls. As incredible as it sounds, after 10 games in the EuroLeague and 275 minutes on the court, Doncic has committed just 8 fouls and has drawn more than any other player in the competition (63).
In fact, in the last 5 rounds, Doncic has committed just 2 fouls despite facing top players (Calathes, Cole, Granger), while he drew 30 fouls, causing a lot of damage.
The above statistical element confirms the great maturity that governs Doncic’s game. At 18 years of age, other athletes commit one careless foul after another, while he is considered a very good defender who knows how to press on the ball and place his body and hands in the right way without paying for it.
