CSKA Moscow is left alone on the top of the standings, while Zalgiris Kaunas and Crvena Zvezda are turning heads. It’s deja vu in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

There were simply so many good performances this week, that Doncic’s show at “El Clasico” simply doesn’t fit in our best five.

As you can see in the standings, CSKA Moscow is the only team with a 10-2 record and as you can see in our GameCenter, you simply have to expect the unexpected. There were three road wins this week, even Fenerbahce Dogus is not safe and that brings us to our MVP.

MVP

Kevin Pangos

He is turning heads as the on-court alter ego of coach Sarunas Jasikevicius and he had 22 points on 9/12 field goals and 7 assists in the big road win of Zalgiris Kaunas against Fenerbahce Dogus. According to the numbers, he is not the best performer of the week, but winning on the road against the champs makes him our MVP.

BEST FIVE

  1. Kevin Pangos: He rises together with Zalgiris and Saras
  2. Nando De Colo: He pushed CSKA Moscow on top of the standings with a personal season best in EuroLeague with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists against Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv.
  3. Dorell Wright: He led the charge for the comeback win of Bamberg Baskets against Olympiacos Piraeus with 20 points, just two missed shots in nine attempts, 7 rebounds and 2 assists.
  4. James Augustine: He had an admirable double-double in Unicaja Malaga’s win over Khimki Moscow region with 14 points, 7/8 field goals, 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals!
  5. Vincent Poirier: He had his breakout game this week for Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz in the close win against Anadolu Efes with 16 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks and two key made free throws.

Coach of the week: Sarunas Jasikevicius

Zalgiris Kaunas beat this week a team coached by Obradovic for the first time since 2003. Saras stole the show with his reaction after the decision of Milaknis to shoot a three and not run down the clock. He didn’t hesitate to joke that Milanknis “would not have been on the flight to Kaunas if he missed”. And he leads his team with a 7-5 record so far towards the playoffs. Need any other explanation?

Last word: They did it again

Crvena Zvezda started the season without any hint that something interesting was building at Belgrade. And suddenly after beating Real Madrid, the Serbs have three straight wins, two on the road against the “Whites” and now Valencia. James Feldeine is playing his best basketball and at this point, Zvezda is one win away from the eight spot. Just amazing…
