Midway through a positive season with Enisey in the VTB United League, John Roberson is proving he’s a scorer opponents must deal with. The 30-year-old American point guard has played in Slovenia, Switzerland, Sweden, Hungary and France, but this season is giving it a go in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia.
The Texas Tech alumni is averaging 15.4 points, 5.8 assists, 2 rebounds and 1.4 steals per 2018-19 contest. He is seventh in VTB’s scoring table mainly behind his 42.7% beyond the arc. His 44 three-pointers made are the most by any player in VTB United League’s current campaign. He set the pace early on sinking seven of them on October 27th in the 95-73 road win against Tsmoki-Minsk.
Enisey is gunning for its return in the VTB playoffs. In sixteen 2018-19 matches, Enisey has achieved six wins, which are enough for 10th place. A battle is ahead, as the final of the eight playoffs spots will be determined down the stretch of the Regular Season. The Russians are one “W” behind the playoffs zone and Roberson, their top scorer and top assister, is ready for the task.
Fresh off his EuroCup campaign with ASVEL, his 7DAYS EuroCup All-Time record of 11 threes in a single game and a couple of seasons with Elan Chalon, Roberson remains among the hottest shooters in Europe. He has paid his dues playing all around the continent and is now displaying his shooting range in the VTB.
Arturs Ausejs, 28, is in second place one three-pointer shy from the leader. Branko Mirkovic, Dorell Wright, Jamar Smith, Kristjan Kitsing, Sergio Rodriguez, Tony Crocker, Vitaly Frizdson and Tre McLean are also in the Top 10, while Nando de Colo follows in 11th place.
