College Life
Tyler Haws spent all 4 seasons of his college life playing for the Brigham Young University. From the very first games with the team back in 2009 it became obvious that he is a player with unique offensive talent. His coaches in BYU helped him to improve different parts of his game and turned him into an offensive weapon with impressive scoring numbers. He graduated being the 2nd best scorer in whole NCAA with 22.3 points per game. He had been the captain of the team the last three seasons while he became the BYU career scoring leader. Fantastic accomplishment with a program so reach in history!
*Following his Freshman year back in 2010, Tyler Haws chose to give up two years to serve a church mission in the Philippines
Player Profile
The most correct term to describe Tyler Haws is “scoring-machine”. He is a player who can put the ball in the basket from any kind of range. He is a tremendous shooter either from mid-range or beyond the arc who knows exactly how to move on the court and come off a screen to score. This is actually one of his signature moves! There are games that if he starts scoring he just can’t stop and this is result of his perfect shooting technique combined with his offensive talent. Tyler Haws is also a very good spot-up shooter who can receive the ball and have some made shots in a row.
Always eager to have the ball when it counts, Tyler Haws is an example on and off the court. All his coaches had been choosing him as the captain of the team and this is result of his great determination and his good character. Never caused troubles and always inspired his team as a leader.
Two things that Tyler Haws needs to work on are his explosiveness and his defense! Top players need to be good in both ends and Tyler Haws needs improvement in defense.
Future
It is very possible that Tyler Haws won’t make it to the NBA. His game fits better with the European style of play. If he chooses to continue playing in Europe, he will make the difference in most of the teams!
