Panathinaikos was searching its new coach for a long time and eventually decided to hire Sasha Djordjevic, who will be also coach of the Serbian national team.
Djordjevic denied during the last year offers from Olympiacos and Real because of the Serbian NT, but the Greens convinced him to work again for a club, while he will keep his position in the finalists of the World Cup.
The 48 year-old coach made his coaching steps in 2006-07 with Milano, his last team as a player. After a four-year break he came back to coaching in 2011 for one season with Benetton and in 2013 he was named coach of the Serbian National team, which led to the second in World Cup last summer.
Panathinaikos had until the end Soulis Markopoulos very high in their short list but eventually Djordjevic was the chosen.
