The American power forward is now officially a part of the Turkish team, since the club announced that he signed a contract until the end of the season. 31 year old Chuck Davis has been coach Ergin Ataman’s choice in order to add some muscle and toughness to roster of the “CimBom“. One that was qualitative and could outscore many other teams, yet lacked some important elements that costed Galatasaray some unexpected defeats.
Chuck Davis is no stranger to European basketball. Actually he is far from a rookie in the Turkish Championship, since he has spent 8 of his 9 professional years in Europe, playing for teams in Turkey. He was a part of Banvit Bandirma for 6 consecutive seasons, playing there from 2009 to 2015.
His choice of jersey number is “63”. There’s a nice story behind this. “63” is the province number of Sanliurfa, the state where the person who makes the jerseys for the team was born. He thinks that putting the state number of his brithplace, will bring luck to the new addition of Galatasararay. So he asked Davis to use it for his jersey and the American player agreed.
